Is it worthwhile quitting the job?

Posted by admin under crisis, job search

According to the recruiting agencies research there is a lack in qualified specialists in the Internet in particular regarding project managers and developers. There are much more job offers than candidates who would like to change their current job. Actually it’s logical: smart and practiced professionals have already a good place and regular income. It also could be not the same as expected. Not every person would agree to leave the long-inhabited place where he/she is confident in tomorrow for something new, unstable and choppy.
Nevertheless according to the Linkedin poll not all the people would like to leave their job. Some respondents are quite happy with their place of employment. Interestingly, the answers are divided into 2 equal parts: 50% of interviewed people like their work, 50% do not and would like to leave it when something’s changed. This poll is considered to be up-to-date and you have time to take part in it as well to check the majority opinion and to colour it according to your occupation situation.

However there is another poll held last September with headline “Are you ready to leave your job? Studies show employees are preparing to leave their jobs once the economy improves”. Its results cut across this year poll and show different opinions. 38% of interviewed members are ready to leave their job when the situation improves.

Probably the economic situation is being changed for the better and people are happy with their job? Maybe some people have managed to change the work for a better paid and decent one? It turns out that the situation within the last 8 months has been improved and there is no crisis any longer?

And what do you think about the changes? Is the crisis in progress? Does it interfere with your career? Take part in our opinion poll.

Danger or opportunities?

Posted by admin under crisis, job search

In Chinese, the notion of “crisis” is written as a combination of the two characters “danger” and “opportunity.”

…

David Servan Schreiber, Anticancer: a new way of life

The word “crisis” has sticked in our minds so deeply so the reason for every wrong action, every misfortune can be explained by a single word “crisis”. Whether you didn’t get a job at Wall Street, missed the opening etc – we will shift responsibility on the crisis – they always prefer fair-haired boys, or maybe they have no money to pay me or probably they are looking for a person to keep him/her in view because there is a crisis. Did you happen to think back of your incompetence, non-use of your skills or omission of opportunity to study or improve existing knowledge and skills? Can it be true that crisis is a reason for everything?

If you managed to stay the same strong man in spite of this word “crisis” you are to be envied and wished luck. Most of people would throw up their hands because of things done without results or because of lack of opportunities. That’s right, the crisis is always trying to deceive us by big promises, instantaneous earnings – though they are insignificant as against to our scope. I have a friend who uses every opportunity to make some money working on small tasks and accepting all the offers. However he spends all his spare time on this cherry pie. He will get his 5 dollars for sure – but now, it won’t be his every day, hour or second earning.

Do I make myself clear? The person needs money today and he’s not ready to wait for the future earnings in spite of the fact that he’s not fool and is smarter than all those “professionals” that are everywhere. Then again who would act in a different way in consideration of crisis? There are certain liabilities, family, children – everyone and everything requires attention and care. Though I’d better wait and work for the future. There is the crisis in the world and it cannot be worse than now. We should invest in ourselves and our children for decent life in future. Should we really just hope and knock down for today? Our future is indeed nearby – though how will we face it? The crisis will also pass by. What will we get after that?

There is a peculiar solution for everyone:

- for someone it would be quitting from long-inhabited position with low but stable salary

- for another one it will be studying and getting new information maybe from another realm, alongside with that getting more opportunities

- someone could work hard for him/herself, develop personal skills and guarantee worthy result

I suppose we all should just find our position on what is interesting for us, what can be really useful and what could be worth while achieving it. This is because the crisis is the best time to start changes and go nap on: I’m sure it won’t be worse – our life can be aggravated by other people or the crisis itself, though only we can make our life better.
